NEW LEASH ON LIFE

The Humane Society of Central Texas’ New Leash on Life program reflects our mission to build a community that promotes animal welfare through compassionate services for animals and people. This initiative helps pet owners rehome their animals responsibly without shelter intake, connecting pets with loving adopters and ensuring a smooth, stress-free transition to their next chapter.

What is New Leash?

New Leash on Life is a free service designed to make responsible rehoming as simple and stress-free as possible. Pet owners keep their animals in their care while the Humane Society provides resources and a platform to connect them with potential adopters. This approach reduces shelter intake, supports pets through a smoother transition, and ensures they find the right forever home. We know rehoming a beloved pet is a hard decision, and we’re here to help with compassionate, judgment-free services.

While this service is free, donations are welcome to help us continue offering this lifesaving program. Check out the pets waiting to meet their new families today!

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PROGRAM

The pet must be altered (spayed/neutered), up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. If you need help with completing these, we can tell you how!

The owner must provide detailed behavioral and medical information about pets for accurate marketing & matchmaking for potential adopters. We want to set your pet up for success!

The pets featured here are enrolled in the Humane Society of Central Texas’ New Leash on Life program. All medical, behavioral, and other information about these pets is provided by their current owners, and the Humane Society encourages prospective adopters to verify this information independently before adoption. While the Humane Society of Central Texas acts solely as a facilitator to connect pet owners with potential adopters, we are happy to assist in coordinating meetings between the two parties when we are available.

Please note that adopters will be required to sign an agreement acknowledging that the Humane Society of Central Texas is not liable for any issues, damages, injuries, or adoption returns resulting from these rehoming arrangements. All adoption decisions and transactions are made directly between the pet owner and the adopter. The Humane Society does not take custody of or responsibility for any pets in the New Leash on Life program.
